Charity: Headway Essex
In Essex, someone is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury every 58 minutes. Headway Essex is a charity dedicated to ensuring that everyone living with an acquired brain injury in Essex can lead a fulfilling life. The charity also provides essential support to families and carers, helping them better cope in their caring roles. Serving communities across Essex, Headway Essex offers much-needed services such as community support and day centre programmes, assisting over 700 clients, and their families, and carers each year. Our monthly support groups are invaluable and provide attendees with opportunities to connect with others living with brain injuries, share experiences, and hear from experts in brain injury care and rehabilitation. The charity relies on donations, gifts in wills, fundraising events, and grants to continue providing vital services to brain injury survivors and their families. To help put the charity's impact into perspective, here’s what some of its clients and carers have to say: “I have always appreciated the care Headway Essex has given to my daughter over the years. I don’t know how I would have coped without them." "Without the support of Headway Essex, I don’t know how we would have coped with life." "Headway Essex has been a lifeline to me and has given me hope for a better future."
