The Mobility Scheme

The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to use their motability allowances to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair without the worry of owning and running one.  The scheme is open to those who receive the Higher Rate Motability Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), War Pensioners' Motability Supplement (WPMS), the Enhanced Rate Motability Component of Personal Independent Payment (PIP) or the Enhanced Rate Motability Component of Armed Forces Indepedence Payment (AFIP).

The Motability Scheme is operated by Motability Operations Limited under contract to Motability.  Family members or carers can drive the car on behalf of the disabled person covered with insurance for up to three named drivers.  Servicing and breakdown assistance all included and car adaptations are also available.  For more information on the Scheme, visit motability.co.uk or call (0300) 456 4566 Motability, the national charity, may be able to provide grants to disabled people towards the cost of a Vehicle Scheme, adaptations or driving lessons.  Visit motability.org.uk/grants or call (0800) 500 3186 to be considered for funding through one of our grant programmes.  Motability is a Registered Charity in England and Wales (number  299745) and a Registered Charity in Scotland (number SC050642) and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (reference number 736309).
