Chilterns Dog Rescue Society was founded in 1963 by Mrs Dolly Bromley so our history now stretches over 50 years. Since 1963, over 18,000 dogs have been homed. Not only does the Society care for and find homes for lost and abandoned dogs, owners circumstances sometimes change and this can result in dogs coming into our care. Whatever the reason, these dogs are cared for by the Society until the right new home can be found for them. Our priority is the dogs and we will always put the dogs first.
The Chris Lucas Trust aims to increase understanding of the difficulties faced by those families suffering through the effects of this particular type of cancer and related situations and problems, and to express the views of its sufferers to relevant agencies to help improve their day to day lives. The charity provides funding to contribute to the employment of scientific researchers to carry out research into rhabdomyosarcoma and the publication of the results of such research.
We are a charity in Abingdon, solely set up to support the people of the Town of Abingdon. We maintain 31 almshouses for residents over the age of 50, we provide grants to local organisations and individuals, all for the relief of need. This can be financial or social need.
Church Homeless Trust is a small charity that receives no government funding and is entirely reliant on donations. We help homeless people of all ages, faiths, and nationalities to rebuild their lives with support grants that meet their individual needs. The more tools they are given to be independent, the less chance they have of returning to homelessness. We fund the training, items, activities, counselling and skills people need to rediscover their sense of purpose and feel part of society again. The grants are small, usually between £50 and £300, but to people who have nothing they mean a second chance. They change lives.
