The Dyspraxia Foundation is a national, registered charity with its administrative and fundraising centre in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1987, it is financed entirely by membership subscriptions and private donations. The Foundation acts as a resource and information centre for those wishing to learn more about dyspraxia, its diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation operates a telephone help line, publishes information on dyspraxia, maintains a website with useful information, organises conferences and has a current membership of over 1000. The Foundation supports people in the community through a national network of over 30 Local Groups. In addition the Foundation supports affected adult. The Dyspraxia Foundation has adopted the following Mission Statement: “The Foundation seeks every opportunity to increase understanding of Dyspraxia, particularly among professionals in health and education and employment, and to spread understanding of how those who have the condition can be helped.”

The Dystonia Society is the only UK-wide charity to provide practical and emotional support for the upward of 40,000 people living with dystonia, their families and carers as well as seeking to raise awareness in the general public of issues affecting people with dystonia. Dystonia is an incurable neurological movement disorder which causes involuntary and sustained muscle spasms which can be very painful as well as causing abnormal movement and postures. Dystonia affects men and women of all ages and ethnic groups with childhood dystonia being particularly distressing.
