Sport gives young people a platform to have their voice heard and a place to feel they belong. We harness this extraordinary power to change young lives today and help them build a brighter tomorrow. We run inclusive and innovative programmes that support young people to: - improve health and wellbeing - develop character and leadership - promote inclusion and empathy We work through physical education, bringing together communities of educators and equipping them with the training, practical tools and resources to achieve more for every child. We are also a leading source of PE and youth sport news, insight and opinion.
The Zambia Society Trust is a UK based charity devoted to the relief of poverty, disability and sickness, the promotion of good health and the advancement of education in Zambia. Run entirely by volunteers, the Trust has been working for over 50 years to improve the lives and prospects of as many people in Zambia as possible, with a particular focus on children and young people.
ZANE: Zimbabwe A National Emergency is a UK registered charity working to help the most destitute, vulnerable and impoverished people in Zimbabwe. ZANE is the largest supplier of financial aid to elderly people in Zimbabwe, supporting over 1,800 impoverished pensioners whose life savings and pensions disappeared in the economic collapse and subsequent hyper-inflation. This includes over 600 war veterans and their widows who served the Crown and were promised an entirely different retirement. Instead, they are dependent on charity to survive. ZANE distributes grants to cover care home fees, rent, food and medical costs. ZANE also funds a clubfoot correction programme for children living in high density areas in extreme poverty. The lives of over 3,950 children have already been transformed to date and ZANE continues to fund this life-changing work. ZANE funds an education programme in a high-density suburb in Harare, running seven pop-up classrooms for destitute children who would otherwise not receive an education. The project is led by teaching mentors who live in the local community. ZANE has been working alongside these women for a number of years through its creative therapy project, building their skills and confidence. All are victims of extreme political violence and abuse; many are HIV positive. ZANE is a relational charity – it does not provide bulk aid. Recipients are gently means-tested to ensure that aid goes to those who need it the most. ZANE forms one of the largest social services networks in Zimbabwe, delivered by a team of committed community workers and volunteers operating in difficult and challenging circumstances.
